To support the Belt and Road Initiative and strengthen technical exchange and practical cooperation with participating countries in public health, HIV/AIDS prevention and control, and in vitro diagnostics (IVD), a delegation from the Seminar on New Advances in HIV/AIDS Treatment for Belt and Road Countries recently visited Zhuhai Livzon Diagnostics Inc. (LivzonDx) for a three-day study and exchange program. The delegation consisted of 25 healthcare professionals from seven African countries.

Focusing on recent advances in HIV/AIDS prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, the program featured thematic lectures, site visits, and discussion sessions. It provided a platform for participants to gain insights into China's public health system development, the application of HIV IVD technologies, and the development of the country's pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.
During the program, Ms. Lin Yan, General Manager of LivzonDx, and Mr. Zhu Weidong, Executive Deputy General Manager, extended a warm welcome to the delegation on the behalf of the company. Led by Mr. Justin Zhang, Director of Strategy, the participants toured the company's exhibition hall, where they received a comprehensive introduction to LivzonDx's development history, core technology platforms, product portfolio, and progress in international expansion. The visit gave them a deeper understanding of the company's innovative practices in in the fields of infectious diseases and public health.

The training highlighted China’s experience and achievements in the standardized development and operation of HIV testing laboratories, offering participants valuable insights into the country’s HIV testing service system and laboratory management practices. Delegates actively joined the discussion, showing strong interest in China’s public health laboratory capacity building and quality management.

Drawing on the current HIV/AIDS prevention and control landscape in their respective countries, participants exchanged views with the LivzonDx team on laboratory capacity needs and testing requirements in primary-level healthcare settings. Through face-to-face interaction, they gained a clearer picture of LivzonDx's technical strength and innovation in public health testing, and expressed strong recognition of the company’s full-scenario HIV solutions.

During the seminar, the participants visited the Xiangzhou District Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Zhuhai to gain firsthand insights into the development of China’s community-level public health system and its practices in comprehensive HIV/AIDS prevention and control.

At the Life Health and Safety Experience Hall and the HIV/AIDS Prevention Knowledge Exhibition Area, participants learned about Xiangzhou District’s innovative approaches in health education, services for key populations, collaboration with social organizations, and community mobilization.

Participants then exchanged views with CDC experts from Zhuhai and Xiangzhou on topics such as community-level testing services, the role of social organizations, interventions for key populations, and patient follow-up management — all in the context of their own national HIV/AIDS efforts. The site visit and discussions deepened their understanding of China’s community-level CDC system in comprehensive HIV/AIDS prevention, health education, and community mobilization.

Additionally, Dr. Liu Xi, Director of the Infectious Disease Prevention and Treatment Center at the Fifth Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University, introduced practices across the HIV/AIDS continuum of care, including testing and counseling, post-exposure prophylaxis, antiretroviral therapy, follow-up management, health education, and public outreach. Dr. Liu also engaged with participants on topics related to clinical diagnosis, treatment, and the integration of medical and preventive care for HIV/AIDS.

On the final day of the program, participants visited Livzon Pharmaceutical Group and the Livzon Industrial Park, where they gained a comprehensive view of the Livzon Group’s development history, R&D innovation, global footprint, and achievements in smart manufacturing and quality management systems. The visit gave them a tangible sense of the integrated strengths of Chinese pharmaceutical enterprises in R&D, quality control, and international collaboration.
